
JINJA – AS Part of its sponsorship program towards Busoga Kingdom, Telecom giant MTN Uganda has donated Ugx 20millon towards preparations for the 5th Kyabazinga Coronation Anniversary.
The 5th Kyabazinga coronation anniversary will be held on September 13, 2019, at Butagaya Sub County playground in Jinja district.
MTN’s CEO Wim Vanhelleputte handed over the Ugx20 million cheque to Busoga Kingdom’s second deputy prime minister (Katukiro) Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed at the MTN Uganda headquarters, Nyonyi Gardens in Kampala.
Martin Sebuliba, MTN’s Senior Manager in charge Brand and Communications said they are proud to sponsor the Coronation Anniversary.
Owek. Osman revealed that a partnership between MTN and Busoga Kingdom 2020/2021 was initiated where MTN offered Busoga Kingdom a sponsorship package worth Ugx300 million.
He said the funds will be used in sponsoring Busoga Kingdom activities that include the Annual Massaza cup tournament worth Ugx50 million, Bicycle race worth Ugx50 million, Health and Education plus other priority areas worth Ugx170 million and the Kyabazinga Coronation Anniversary worth Ugx30 million.
Owek. Osman said MTN Uganda promised to invest more in development programs initiated by Obwakyabazinga Bwa Busoga.
He also took the pleasure to invite the Abasoga to grace and support the 5th Kyabazinga Coronation Anniversary at Butagaya Sub County headquarters playground on September 13, 2019.
This year’s celebration that has attracted guests from all-over the world, is running under the Theme: “Preparing a Youth based on Busoga Cultural Norms and Virtues” and several pre-coronation activities have taken place like the official opening of the Masaza Cup, Gabula Day, Boat Race, Farmers Forum, Symposium on Teenage Motherhood, a free Medical camp and the official launch of growing and planting trees in the Kingdom.
