
KAMPALA — The Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB) board of 15 members, has on Thursday, September 5, launched it’s activities with the first special board meeting at Skys Hotel, Naguru in Kampala.
During the meeting, the Board Chairperson Eng. Dr. Silver Mugisha congratulated all members upon appointment to the Board by the Minister of Education and Sports, in line with the Statutory Instrument 2009 No.9 on establishment of the UBTEB.
The new board Chairman Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisha replaced the outgoing Board Chairman Prof Venansius Baryamureeba and is expected to serve together with his appointed 15 members for a period of 3 years.
He further urgued members to have a concrete strategy for the board to deliver in line with the existing strategic plan or make improvements so as to deliver the mandate.
“Prepare to deliver in a wave of various reforms in the Business, Technology and Vocational Education and Training (BTVET) subsector.” said the Chairperson. He also went on to ask members to aim at maintaining the visibility of the Board through Board outputs.
Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye later presented a status performance report by Secretariat. Among the key highlights, the Executive Secretary indicated the growth in candidature, quality staff, funding strategy and policy documents approved.
With all the measures in place, the newly appointed Chairperson is expected to do a tremendous job together with his team as predicted by former Chairperson Baryamureeba.
“We have seen what Dr. Silver [Mugisha] has done both at national and International level. I have no doubt that he will do a tremendous job. He has over 40 publication in journals, been an educationist before and to note, i was in the same class with him doing the same combination in school and I know how serious he is with work,” he said.
