
KAMPALA – The new Danish Ambassador to Uganda His Excellency Nicolaj A. Hejberg Petersen on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) MD Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha at the NWSC Head office in Kampala, Nakasero.
The two discussed service delivery along Entebbe road and the surrounding areas.
According to NWSC, plans are already underway to secure a 140million Euros subsidized loan from the Government of Denmark to the Government of Uganda to construct water supply infrastructure which will serve over 1million people along Entebbe road.
The system will also serve parts of Mpigi, Buloba, Kakiri and the surrounding areas.
The project scope will include;
• A 65,500,000million liters per day capacity water treatment plant.
• Clean water transmission mains
•Clean water reservoirs
•Clean water distribution network Entebbe road etc

The Ambassador expressed his joy to work with the Government of Uganda through NWSC to improve the lives of the people through provision of clean safe water and sanitation services.
He discussed future plans to finance other water and sanitation projects in the Albertine oil region among other projects.
“The Danish Government is committed to supporting the Government of Uganda in it’s efforts to accelerate service delivery in the country,” he said
Eng Mugisha appreciated the support from the Danish Business Finance. He said that the corporation is ready to successfully implement the project as soon as the financing process and necessary approvals are completed.

“There is a high demand for services along the Entebbe road corridor as a result of the mushrooming developments in the area. The project is timely,” he said
NWSC Director Engineering services Eng Alex Gisagara shared the technical aspects of the project. He said that the corporation will put clear emphasis on energy efficiency, protection of the environment, adequate water supply for all and timely delivery of the project.
