MBARARA – President Yoweri Museveni has finally fulfilled his promise of a brand new car to the Mbarara District Khadi, Sheik Abdullah Mukwaya.
Museveni promised to donate a brand new car to Sheik Mukwaya in April this year at his inauguration as the new district khadi but had no log book and number plates.
Area Member of Parliament Michael Tusiime delivered the car at Abubaker Masjid Mosque located on Buremba Kakoba Road on Friday
Tusiime noted that despite the fact that the car was handed over, but the process had not yet been completed since it had no number plates and log book.
“This car had been packed until today when we officially handed it over, now it is in the hands of the Muslims,” said Tusiime.
He added that other presidential pledges of UGX250m which the president made towards the construction of the Muslim hospital and SACCOS will be delivered soon.
He however advised them that as the political calendar nears, they should be mindful of the leaders they will choose to represent them.

“You need to look for leaders who will be pro-development, quick thinkers because the fact that we have been divided into two constituencies as we get the city status, we are going to fight for meagre resources that will be coming from the centre” added Tusiime.
He warned political impostors who give the false impression that they have been seconded by the President or State House, advising that people should not fall for such “thuggery” but choose their leaders based on competence and capacity.
Sheikh Abdullah Mukwaya expressed gratitude to President Museveni for fulfilling part of his pledges to the Muslims of Mbarara. He said that he had packed the car since it was donated to him after traffic police continued to quiz him over the number plates.
He asked the president to deliver the remaining pledge of UGX250m.
Sheikh Mukwaya called upon the Muslim community and people of Mbarara to desist from evil acts of violence and other criminal acts. “As we welcome the new city let’s put God first, promote unity in Mbarara, let us not be divided by dirty politics”
