
MBARARA – Rwampara MP Charles Ngabirano was on Thursday, October 31, 2019 admitted to Mayanja Memorial Hospital in Mbarara after being injured in an accident.
The vehicle the legislator was travelling in veered off the road at Mile 6 (Omurucheche) along Mbarara-Kabale road and drove into the bush.
The MP was heading to the district headquarters where electing of new district leaders is underway. Rwampara District was created in July. The elections of the interim LCV Chairperson for Rwampara has flopped two times. The elections flopped in Julyafter only four out of the seven councillors turned up.
Many MPs have been involved in accidents of late. In April, Mbarara Municipality Member of Parliament Michael Tusiime was involved in a motor accident. In the same month, Kilak North Member of Parliament (MP), Anthony Akol was involved in a nasty motor accident on his way from Gulu to Kampala.
In March, Nakawa Member of Parliament Michael Kabaziguruka was admitted to hospital after he was involved in another car accident. Mr Kabaziguruka said his car collided with another MP’s car. The other MP is said to be in critical condition. The accident happened at Matugga along Bombo road.
In July last year, the MP sustained a double fracture on one of his legs when the ambulance van he was driving collided with another truck near the Uganda Manufacturers Association Showground in Lugogo, Kampala.
He was bedridden for several months.
