Ryan Muhumuza Umar the Guild President MUST broke the news on his social media platforms and identified the deceased as Brian Akampulira a second-year student of Medicine.
“We regret the untimely death of Akampulira Brian, a second-year student of Medicine who was murdered along Sewage-Katete Bridge near Taso Village in Mbarara,” reads a post from the office of the guild president.
Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson confirmed the development, saying the incident happened last night and the body was taken to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for post-mortem.
Emmy Kateera the deputy RDC Mbarara said Akampulira was a son to Paul Twinomwe a primary school teacher in Rukungiri.
“It is so sad that we have lost a young man in his second year at the university, people who know him have said he has been a very humble boy since he went through Kitabi Seminary”
He called upon the public to always know that security starts with an individual before security agencies come in. “When you are moving at night why would you move in places that are dangerous, with no lights? I’m sure Akampulira was alone that is why he was unable to fight back,” he said.
He said the public should be security conscious especially at night to avoid being trapped by wrong elements.
