KAMPALA – Former Kampala Lord Mayor Hajj Nasser Ntege Ssebagala has said now is the time for Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine to challenge President Museveni for the country’s top seat.
Speaking in an interview on Monday, Hajj Ssebagala commonly known as Seya said many people have a lot of hope in Bobi Wine.
“The only challenge he has now is persistence. This is the right time for Bobi Wine to challenge President Museveni. Me I supported Dr Besigye not because I had failed. When they stopped me from contesting for the presidency, we had three options on the table.?1. To go to the bush, ?2. To wait for another election, 3. To get someone who had the same ideas like us,” he said.
“We agreed with the last one and we supported Dr Besigye wholeheartedly, this is where the famous ‘HAJJI ALAGIDDE’ slogan came about,” he added.

Several media reports have indicated that Bobi Wine and Dr Besigye’s teams are holding talks regarding how to proceed with the 2021 presidential elections. Bobi Wine has already declared his intention to stand for president come 2021, a move analysts say will lead to split of opposition votes as Dr Besigye is also set to stand.
However, Hajj Ssebagala said this is the time for Bobi Wine and Dr Besigye should give way.
“The same situation, therefore, has resurfaced but this time to Dr Besigye, he must command all his people and support to yet another political giant and its Bobi Wine. He has been approved by almost all people and most importantly has the support of the international community. I, therefore, urge Dr Besigye to give a stick to this young man,” he said.
