
NKOZI – The Dean of the Institute of Languages and Communications at Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi has been installed as the new superior general of the congregation of the Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix-Ggogonya.
Sister Dr Sperenza Namusisi will replace Sister Christine Kiiza who has served in the position for 12 years.
Sr Dr Namusisi was installed last Thursday at a special mass presided over by Kampala Archbishop Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga at Ulrika Retreat Centre on Entebbe Road.
Sister Dr Namusisi brings a lot of experience to the congregation having been a member for 27 years. r. She celebrated 25 years in the institute in 2017 and has worked in different departments within the institute as a teacher, mentor before going for further studies to start teaching at the university.
She will serve together with a council of five nuns who include Sr Mary Ritah Namayanja (her deputy), Sr Lawrence Namata, Sr Maria Nabakka and Sister Josephine Sserabidde.
The new superior general was born on August 22, 1966 to late Donanto Kaserababa and Catalina Bakarekye, who were originally from Kisoro District. Sister Namusisi became a nun in 1992.
The Institute of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix- Ggogonya (IHMR), is a diocesan rite and was founded by the late Archbishop Joseph Louis Cabana on the 21st of April 1948 at Bugonga convent, Entebbe. Cabana was one of the members of the Society of the Missionaries of Africa, commonly known as White Fathers. He came to Uganda in 1924 and in December of that very year was posted to Bukuumi Parish for his first apostolate.
