
KAMPALA – The Ministry of Water and Environment through the Water and Sanitation Development Facility and Buganda Land Board has embarked on construction of a piped water system in Bamunanika, Luweero District.
The project will be handled by M/S ANTHUI SIJIAN HOLDING Company Limited.
The villages to be served include: Buto A, Buto B, Kasenene, Malagye, Kikabya,Kisaaku, Muyenge, Lubi zone, Kanseka, Luteete, Kiyunga, Mityebiri, Magogo among others. In the first phase, the project will serve 400 promotional connections.
During the meeting on Thursday, the CAO requested the Water Board Committee not only to tell people that they will need water but rather let them know how much water they consume everyday.
He added that Free Water is equal to free disease where as clean water is equal to cash out of the pocket. Mr. Wamala Geoffrey, a State Commercial Officer in the office of the Royal Treasury representing Nkuluzze Office requested all local leaders not to involve politics in the project.
“Let us sensitize the natives so that they clearly understand the impact of this project before it kicks off”, he said.
In his remarks, the District Engineer said he is very delighted to hear that as much as the Water Supply and Sanitation Program Phase II funded by the African Development Bank has reached its climax, Bamunanika has emerged to be one of the selected towns implemented by the Ministry.
Luwero has successfully succeeded in acquiring four water projects including Zirobwe, Kikyuusa, Busiika and Bamunanika. To the Ministry, we shall continue supporting you like we have always done.
“I am 100% sure and very confident that this project will be successful” said the District Engineer. “I call upon all those expected to work on land matters to expedite them as fast as possible”, the Vice Chairperson said.
He emphasized that water is an essential for all, therefore when you acquire it you are not only improving your standards of living but also reducing on the money you would have spent on getting treated.
At the closure of the meeting, the Vice Chairperson Luwero district appealed to the Local Chairpersons present to own the project and guard it as their very own.
