KAMPALA – Events promoter Balaam Barugahara has urged people to stop coming to him, asking for money, saying he does not receive any handouts from the State.
Speaking in an interview on Monday, November 4, 2019, Barugahara, who is an ardent supporter of President Museveni, said he is also strained by his own challenges.
“Many youth come to me, asking for money. I don’t have money. Me I survive on my businesses. Dear Ugandans, don’t come to me asking for money. I don’t have it. Go to NRM offices if you want money. I also have my responsibilities,” he said.
Barugahara also said he has also offered services to the NRM but is yet to be paid.
“I have done work for the NRM for four years and they are even yet to pay me. Yes, I may be meeting the President but he does not give money. Instead it is me who gives him money. I like to help people but sometimes I am overstretched,” he added.
The music promoter also supported President Museveni’s choice of Buchaman as a foil to the threat of Bobi Wine.
“Buchaman has been Kyagulanyi’s vice president for a longtime. So the choice of Buchaman is the right one if the President is to penetrate the ghetto. I really think those condemning the President’s choice are ignorant,” he said.
He also by allying with Full Figure, another artiste, Mr Museveni has found the right mobiliser.
“Full figure makes a lot of noise. She can mobilise the low social class for the President,” he said.
