SERERE – A group of youth in Serere District in Teso Sub Region have formed a group known as Serere District NRM foot soldiers with the move to drum up votes for President Museveni ahead of the 2021 general elections.
The youth numbering 2,000 from the whole Serere district said their aim is to ensure that President Museveni gets 97%of the vote in the next elections.
The chairman of the group, Mr. Peter Ekodeu said on Monday November 4, that their move to support the president follows the peace that President Museveni has enabled them to enjoy.
“Serere District was the centre of rebels and we had no freedom but President Museveni brought [us] peace,” he said.
Ekodeu says they will continue supporting President Museveni as a person of good experience in leadership.
Mr. Moses Omagor the head of publicity said they will continue to support the president even if they have not benefited like the youth in other districts.
“We want to meet the president as the youth of Serere District and assure him that he has all the support from us,” he said.
Mr. Simon Ochen the mobiliser said the work of the group is to preach a gospel of the good things that president Museveni has done in the country.
“We are already on the ground telling the public the importance of voting for President Museveni,” he said.
