FORT PORTAL – The Rev. Willy Kintu Muhanga, the Mayor Fort Portal Municipality has refuted allegations that he was caught red-handed in a sex act with another man’s wife in his office.
In a communication delivered by Victor Businge, Rev. Muhanga’s Lawyer and legal advisor during a press conference, the mayor says the woman in question Ms. Martha, wife to a one Amon Balya sent him a message on a fateful evening demanding to have a meeting with him and he proposed his office since he was finalizing some documents with the planner.
The mayor’s attorneys now claim the woman was a setup.
Said Mr. Businge: “The incident was out of malice and politically stage-managed by some of his enemies and politicians who are against him”.
Lawyer Businge said they are likely to sue the people and Mr. Balya who masterminded the alleged setup.
The mayor’s attorneys say the group even demanded a UGX 150m ransom.
News has been making rounds in Fort Portal since Monday after Mr. Balya told the media that he had caught the mayor in an act with his wife.
It is alleged that after the incident, Mr. Balya told the Mayor that he was tired of him encroaching on his wife, and demanded his dowry so that the mayor takes over.
The FortPortal police have since launched investigations into the alleged adultery accusations and abuse of office by the mayor.
The Rwenzori region police community liaison officer Solomon Mugisa revealed that police have embarked on investigations following numerous public complaints that Rev. Muhanga has been engaging in sexual acts with men’s wives.
Mr. Mugisa added that “once investigations are complete and if proved positive, the mayor will face charges of adultery and abuse of office”.
