
KAMPALA – The retired Archbishop James Odongo of Tororo is not dead, the Secretary-General of the Uganda Episcopal Conference Msgr. John B. Kauta has clarified.
“The Archbishop is well,” Msgr. Kauta told PML Daily on Monday evening.
“Please disregard any information to the contrary,” Msgr. Kauta, who speaks for the Catholic Bishops Conference said.
A post on Facebook indicated that Archbishop Odongo, 88 who was ordained an Auxiliary bishop on February 16, 1965, had died on Monday, December 16.
He currently lives in Mbale, where he has been staying upon retirement in 2007.
Pope Benedict XVI accepted his resignation from the pastoral care of Tororo Archdiocese on June 27, 2007, on account of the age limit.
