
KIGEZI – The Bishop of South Ankole diocese Rt Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe has cautioned church leaders on leading the church into poverty and portraying it as a begging institution , challenging them to use the available resources to enrich the it especially through Agriculture.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe said each of the churches in the diocese has been given a quota to plant coffee in all the parishes which will consequently lead to increased income for the church and translate into development in the communities they serve.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe used the Christmas day homily to call on Christians to reserve some time for prayers and give their hearts to God so that they may easily overcome the challenges they see as huge.
The Ntungamo municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga who attended the service called on Christians to bless for peace and harmony on the coming elections.
He said the politicians shall continue supporting the church at all times.
Speaking at Rujumo Church of Uganda in Kagarama town council Kajara, the Kajara county MP Micheal Timuzigu Kamugisha called for hard work in the citizens. Timuzigu said that the citizens need not to wait for government programs to work but rather work hard and avoid wasteful in Christmas festive.
Relatedly, Christians from all walks of life on Wednesday December 25th 2019 gathered at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in Western Division Rukungiri Municipality to celebrate the Birth of Jesus Christ the Savior.
Right Rev. Benon Magezi the North Kigezi diocesan Bishop who led the service in his massage asked the congregation not be intimidated by earthly temptations but however feel relieved because the savior is born.
Bishop Magezi added that God is the defender of every human being and forgives those who seek him.
At All saint Church Rukungiri, Retired Rev. Canon Elisha Waswa of Rujumbura Archdeaconry who led the service tasked Christians to keep their obedience and respect the church pillars as a way of living holy and Godly.
At St. John church of Uganda Kashozi in Eastern Division Rukungiri Municipality, Musiimenta Gilbert Kirunda the director Elite High School, also a UPDF officer attached to Bombo army barracks urged the congregation to stay away from earthly sins like prostitution, robbery, witchcraft and alcoholism so that they remain holy to God their creator.
Musiimenta asked the Christians to cleanse their hearts so that Christ can be born in them and give them eternal life.
In Kigezi diocese, Rt Rev George Bagamuhunda the Bishop of Kigezi diocese decried greed, alcoholism and drug abuse, sexual immorality, pre-election propaganda among other immoral acts in this festive season.
His message was carried in his Christmas homily delivered today during Christmas service at St Peters Cathedral Rugarama in Kabale municipality.
According to Bishop Bagamuhunda, greed has escalated into the public leading to murder, theft, cheating and hiking of commodity and service prices.
Bagamuhunda has cited an example of transport services especially the bus companies which hike transport fares in the festive season to get much profits, use of unbalanced weighing scales among others.
Bagamuhunda has condemned sexual immorality which has increased the rate of unwanted pregnancies, the rate of HIV/AIDS and broken marriages.
He has further condemned alcoholism and drug abuse which has increased the number of mental disorder in the country.
Bishop Bagamuhunda has noted that as the election time is drawing near propaganda is going to escalate especially opponents tarnishing each other’s names and even plotting murder against each other.
He has therefore called for respect for each other and harmony for fair and peaceful elections.
