
BIREEBO— President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in a company of Bazzukulu and Bush War historical have Thursday arrived at Birembo—bringing his symbolic trek to an end.
On Thursday, Museveni walked 14Kms between 9:30am and 1:40pm nonstop.
Museveni will camp at Bireembo on Thursday, a historical site during the NRA struggle and thereafter address the media Friday on a number of issues related to the trek codenamed “Afrika Kwetu.”
Earlier, Museveni explained in a detailed article why Galamba- Bireembo trek was very strategic in the bush war.
The 195km journey was meant to honour freedom fighters who lost loves and others shed blood fighting for the liberation of Uganda in 1980- 86.
The President added that the walking tour had helped him to bond with families of the combatants who sacrificed their lives for Uganda and also met and interacted with the surviving soldiers.
On the other hand, Museveni revealed that he was gathering information from the population on particularly service delivery.
A section of the public had doubted Museveni would complete the journey with some authoring opinions indicating that the Commander in Chief (CiC) would need more days to finish the trek.
