KAMPALA – Henry Kasirye, 23, a casual labourer and a resident of Lusaze Rubaga Division Kampala District, has been detained over a range of criminal cases including aggravated robbery and threatening violence.
According to a police statement, Kasirye was arrested after he was rescued from a mob that was beating up on him on allegations that he had committed a crime.
“Members of the community had accused him of participating in several crimes in the surrounding areas of Lugala, Lubya, Munaku and Kosovo,” read an excerpt.
Kasirye has been operating with accomplices that police officers are searching for with the aim of prosecuting them.
“Some of the cases under inquiry against him and accomplices include; aggravated robbery, simple robbery, simple robbery and threatening violence,” reads the statement in part.
He is currently receiving treatment for the injuries he sustained during the mob action and will be arraigned before courts law as soon as possible.
