KAMPALA – President Yoweri Museveni has pledged to help Tooro Prince David Kijjanangoma find a job and settle his debts.
In a letter dated November 11, 2019, the President also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to give Prince Kijjanangoma a job.
“I am happy that you stopped fighting King Oyo Nyimba,” the letter reads in part, in reference to the Prince’s strong opposition to the current king’s reign. In 2015, he accused the monarch of abdicating his throne to stay in Kampala and declared himself the new king of Toro with attempts to take over the palace, but the court blocked the move.
But Mr Museveni said if Kijjanangoma does not possess the required qualifications for a job in Foreign Service, he will support him in buying land to start farming.
Museveni also directed the State House comptroller, Lucy Nakyobe, to get Kijjanangoma a rented house for a year and settle his old debts. The letter adds that he should get a monthly allowance of sh4m until he gets a job or goes into farming.
