DAR ES SALAM – Incarcerated Tanzanian investigative journalist Erick Kabendera has been finally set free after seven months in jail but with Mr. John Magufuli’s government setting stringent conditions for his freedom.

The Tanzania government on Monday, February 24 ordered Mr. Kabendera to pay a fine of TZ Shs 100 million for alleged money laundering and another TZ Shs 250,000 for tax evasion (approx. USD 45,000) after a plea bargain that reports indicate was politically negotiated.
