
GULU – Lance Corporal Geoffrey Oneka, 32, UPDF entered a not guilty plea in the case where he is accused of shooting three people dead in Gulu.
Appearing before the General Court Martial sitting in Gulu and chaired by Col. George Nambafu on Friday, February 2, 2020, three murder charges as well as charges of murder, attempted murder were read for Oneka.
When Col. Nambafu asked Oneka whether he had committed the alleged crimes, he denied the charges, entering a plea of not guilty.
Oneka is accused of shooting dead Beatrice Ajok, 52, Joakim Dan Binyang, 18, and Owen Norman, 20 a senior six student of St Pope Paul Nakaseke High School.

He is also accused of attempting of injuring one Apwoyo-Rwot Peace, an eight-year-old girl, whom he shot on the same day.
Prosecution led by Lieutenant Eric Akandawanira, told the court that investigations into the case had been completed and they were ready to proceed.
The prosecution team began by examining witnesses who told the court that they could ably identify the suspect as Oneka.
Oneka, is being represented by, Captain Agustine Tumwebwaze.
The trial was adjourned to Friday 26.
Oneka was remanded the suspect to Gulu Central Prison.
