KAMPALA — The new archbishop of Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has said that the church will not tolerate the promotion of homosexuality and warned pro-gay activists against such activities.
“…the trend in the Western world and some Anglican churches in those contexts are being pressured into doing this, including our mother church of England. But for us in Uganda, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord,” he said vowing to defend the church against gay marriages.
Kaziimba who was on Sunday, March 1, 2020 enthroned as the 9th Archbishop of the Church of Uganda at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Namirembe—replacing Stanley Ntagali, said his administration would not allow pro-homosexuality activists to continue with their promotional campaign of homosexuality in the Church.
Kaziimba also condemned those pressurising the Church to accept homosexuality, describing the them as devils.
“There is even incest and beastiality. These are not God’s ways. I invite people who are cohabiting to put their marriage right before God by making marriage vows and putting on wedding rings. These are not Satanic as some heretical teachers put it, they are equally God’s way,” he said.

Quoting from Jeremiah 17.9-10, Dr. Kaziimba also called for a full conversion of head, heart, and hands.
He committed himself to fulfilling Vision 2025, the Church of Uganda’s strategic plan whose mission is “to proclaim the Gospel in accordance with Christ’s commission to make disciples of all nations.” “When we do this,” he said, “then I believe we will see our vision fulfilled. We will see the Church of Uganda become “a faster growing sustainable Christ-centred church.”
He said he would emphasize Marriage God’s Way, mentoring boys as well as girls, and launching a Church of Uganda TV station.
