KAMPALA — The army on weekend withdrew all military guards from city socialite Bryan White also known as Brian Kirumira under circumstances the army has refused to speak about.
All the Special Forces Command (SFC) officers attached to the flamboyant city tycoon’s home in Buziga were reportedly recalled.
Efforts to seek a comment from SFC Spokesperson Jimmy Omara were futile as his phone number could not be reached.
Army spokespersons Brig. Richard Karemire and his Deo Akiiki declined to speak to comment on the matter.
Brian White is a self-styled tycoon known for dishing out money in Kampala.
Bryan White after being dragged to CID by various people last year turned his anger to the government for not supporting him.
“I supported, worked and even invested my money in the government, but if they have decided to put me down, it is okay, besides I’m fed up with Uganda,” he was quoted in one the papers.
Bryan White, who has occasionally claimed to be a supporter of President Yoweri Museveni and the NRM party, is famed for his lavish lifestyle and dishing out money to revelers in Kampala.
Bryan White says he inherited riches from his late Italian stepfather Claudio. Claudio was a businessman dealing in real estate. He would buy old houses, renovate them and re-sell them.
Last week we reported that the socialite was trouble over massive debts and creditors were contemplating to arrest him.
Bryan White allegedly acquired a posh Mercedes Benz G-Wagon from a city businessman a one Alex Biyenda and only paid less than $100,000 of over $250,000.
He allegedly promised to pay the balance, which he did not, prompting the former owner Biyenda to report a criminal case of obtaining goods by false pretence against Mr. Kirumira
Bryan White recently confessed having debts, but said if the government can also be indebted, why not him?
