
KAMPALA – Pharmacists through their professional body, the Pharmaceutical society of Uganda represented by the Vice President Dr. Pamela Achii on Tuesday donated sanitizers worth 10 million Ugx to the government geared towards fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The sanitizers, manufactured by the Pharmaceutical society of Uganda Production unit and approved by National Drug Authority were delivered to the Ministry of health headquarters and received by the Minister of Health Dr. Ruth Aceng and Permanent Secretary, Dr Diana Atwine.
While receiving the donation the Minister commended PSU for being the first professional body to contribute to the COVID-19 pandemic.The Minister appreciated the efforts PSU has played in locally manufacturing the sanitizers. She further stated that the donation would help in disinfection of quarantine rooms and at the same time enable health workers access pocket hand sanitizers as part of their PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
The Permanent Secretary expressed her gratitude for the work Pharmacists are doing. PSU expressed willingness to assist in reactivation of production units in government health facilities to produce sanitizers and disinfectants.The Society was also represented by Dr Otim Francis, Dr Musa Semanda and staff from the PSU production unit headed by Richard Maseruka.
