
KAMPALA – The Uganda Parliamentary Women Association (UWOPA) has decried opportunists who have taken advantage of food distribution to ask women for sex.
Addressing journalists at Parliament, the Association Chairperson Pamera Kamugo said that some local leaders are using the current situation to lure vulnerable women into sex.
She said that a week ago, a lady whose name has been withheld called her claiming that an LC1 chairperson was asking for sex before giving out food to her.
She also added that government should think of setting up a special interest free fund to be used after Covid-19 pandemic to save the sinking businesses for both women and men.
She said that also loan interests should be suspended until the pandemic is over.
Additionally, UWOPA has appealed to government to register all elderly people and provide them with necessities, provide access to clean water both to constrained rural and urban center.
