KAMPALA – Cabinet will meet on Easter Monday to consider whether to extend the current lockdown over coronavirus, PML Daily has learnt.
The total lockdown announced by President Museveni two weeks ago elapses on Easter Monday and many members of the public have been wondering what the head of state will do next.
However, a source close to the matter told this website on Easter Sunday evening that the President will, before meeting Cabinet, hold a meeting with the national taskforce on Covid-19 to decide whether or not to extend the lockdown.
“It is hard to predict the next step,” the source told this website.
“Let’s wait and see,” the source added.
The government has been emboldened by the rising negative cases in the test samples tested everyday, raising hope that the country is winning the battle against the virus.
In the same vein, at least 22 positive patients have recovered and more will be discharged on Monday.
On Easter Sunday, presidential press secretary Don Wanyama was forced to dismiss a tweet attributed to the President as saying that that he had extended the lockdown.
“Good people. This is fake. The President hasn’t tweeted this. The Cabinet and national taskforce on Covid-19 will meet tomorrow despite being Easter Monday. The President will guide the country thereafter. Please disregard these concoctions.”
