
NAIROBI – Ministry of Health CAS Dr. Rashid Abdi Aman in Kenya has on Friday, April 24, announced that 16 individuals had tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
He stated that the total number of those who had contracted the disease stood at 336.
“In the last 24 hours, we have tested 946 samples across twelve (12) counties. This brings to 16,738 the total number of tests conducted so far. From these latest tests, sixteen (16) persons have tested positive for COVID 19 disease,” the CAS stated.
He noted that the 16 had been picked out from among communities by the surveillance team.
Dr. Abdi added that five individuals had been discharged bringing the number of recoveries to 94.
In terms of the distribution of the cases in Nairobi neighborhoods, the CAS indicated that Dandora had five City Park (2), Eastleigh (1) Parklands 2, and Pipeline (1).
In Mombasa, he announced that the cases are distributed as follows; Kiembeni (1), Centi Kumi (1), Stadium (1), Msikiti Nuru (1), and Mulaloni (1).
The number of those who have succumbed to the virus still remained 14 from the April 18 presser.
“We are most grateful, first of all to God, the Almighty, and to the medics and health workers taking care of our patients,” he stated.
Additionally, the CAS indicated that the ministry was monitoring 887 contacts relating to the 16 cases.
