
KAMPALA — President Museveni has thanked the People Power Movement for donating relief items through the national taskforce.
The President who, during his address on Wednesday night read out the donations that have been made by a wide range of individuals and other entities to the coronavirus response thanked the donors including politicians for responding to his call.
The donations, which include cash, also feature vehicles, mattresses, spray pumps, gas cylinders, gloves, soap, face masks, hand sanitizers, pharmaceutical drugs, testing kits, mosquito nets, food and drinking water among others.
“These should be published in the papers,” he directed the national taskforce headed by Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.
The President particularly singled out People Power group (led by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi a.k.a Bobi Wine) for their donations and equips: “Thank you so much. Now you see you are joining the people.”
“Thank you very much”.
Mr. Kyagulanyi on Wednesday afternoon flagged off food relief to the national task force to help government in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
Previously, President Museveni had warned politicians and other Ugandans against distributing food to people, saying this would increase the risk of spreading coronavirus.
Uganda has by Wednesday night registered 53 cases of Coronavirus.
