
KAMPALA – Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango has revealed that two people have been killed by heavy rains on two different days.
Onyango said the first victim identified as Wahabu Kibungwe drowned on Friday, May 1 at lake Victoria shores in Busabala at around 1:50pm.
“Wahabu went to swim but was overpowered by winds. He drowned and died,” he said in a statement dated Saturday, May 2.
He added that his body has since been retrieved.
The second incident, Onyango said happened on Saturday, May 2 at Nakawa junction at around 7:45 PM.
“Unidentified lady who was coming from Bugolobi side fell in a trench and was washed away by running water towards industrial area” Onyango noted.
He said a search to recover the body is being conducted by 999 operatives, fire rescue team and CIDs.
Onyango appealed to the public to be very cautious during the rainy season.
