KAMPALA — Mr. Kakwenza Rukirabashaija, the author of a critical book “The Greedy Barbarian, has on Wednesday May 06 been released on bail.
He was released by the Chief Magistrate Court of Iganga on non-cash bail of UGX 10m while each of his two sureties were bonded at UGX. 10m non cash.
Kakwenza was locked up for engaging in an act likely to spread an infectious disease.
The popular political commenter who has been in incarceration since Easter Monday is facing accusations of doing an act likely to spread infection of disease.
He is being charged for allegedly uttering false information and spreading harmful propaganda in relation to the deadly COVID-19.
He was ordered to return to Iganga Chief Magistrate Court on May 16, 2020.
