
KAMPALA— The Kwagalana Group, the umbrella body of wealthy Ugandans has donated a brand new 4*4 brand double cabin new pick-up to boost the national COVID-19 force in the quest for its fleet.
President Yoweri Museveni requested donors who are willing to help in the fight to prioritize donating brand new double-cabin pick-up trucks, with four-wheel drive.
Museveni said with more cars at the health ministry’s disposal, it will be able to execute its mandate during this critical time.
Handing over the brand new pick, the group chairman Edward Kirumira lauded the president for the braveness exhibited during the current crisis
“I appreciate the special team comprised of Ministry of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, Dr. Diana Atwine, Hon. Mary Karooro, our dear Prime Minister Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda, our medical team for risking it all to save lives and the entire fraternity for the sacrifices and all your efforts in fighting this deadly coronavirus,” he said adding that “with all the support of individuals and other organizations that Coronavirus with be conquered”.
“We are grateful for the various generous contributions of food and other essentials to the cause, and wish to supplement these positive efforts by contributing to the building of a medical fleet throughout Uganda that is capable of rushing any potential or actual victim to hospital for timely medical intervention”. Kirumira added.
A number of Kwagalana Group members have been at the frontline from the start, each in their own way supporting the cause with food and essentials as follows;
-Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia contributed two pickup trucks through his Ruparelia foundation.
-Mr. Ben Kavuya made earlier contributions in Rukungiri and Kabula,
-Mr. Posiano Ngabirano contributed in Rukungiri.
– Mr. Joseph Yiga, contributed a pick up through Steel & Tube.
-Ntake Group of Companies.
-Ham Enterprises made a contribution of UGX.100M.
– Dr. Sarah Nkonge in Lwengo district among others.
