KAMPALA – Uganda Widlife Authority (UWA) has received food supplies from African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) to support rangers carry out their day to day patrol duties amidst the COVID-19, the pandemic that has seen a drop in revenue earnings for UWA.
The items include 15 tonnes of maize flour, 6 tonnes of beans and 500 litres of cooking oil.
While handing over the items on behalf of AWF to UWA’s Director- Conservation John Makombo, Sudi Bamulesewa noted that the items were emergency donations to ensure conservation work goes on unhindered by the current crisis of COVID 19.
John Makombo, the Director Conservation flanked by members of top management thanked AWF for the great contributions made not only for the food items but over time for the past 20 years.
“AWF has been one of the strong partners. The food supplies would go a long way to morale boost rangers who will be the beneficiaries to double their efforts in protection of wildlife in the country,” he said.
