
KASESE – The National Taskforce that was established by the FDC Party President Hon. Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat to collect relief items for the flood victims of Kasese district has on Monday delivered the first batch of relief consignment to the leadership of Kasese District.
The Taskforce that included; Rukungiri District Woman MP Hon. Betty Bamukwatsa Muzanira, Rujumbura County MP Hon. Fred Turyamuhweza and the Party National Youth leader Mr. Mulindwa Walid Lubega was received by the District leadership led by LC5 Chairman Mr. Sibendire Bigogo.
Also present were district Vice Chairman Mr. Ntaboose Gideon, Council members, District Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, FDC Kasese District branch leadership led by Chairman Muzei Saulo Matte, Kasese District members of Parliament led by District Woman MP Hon. Winnie Kiiza Bihande, Hon. Nzoghu William Mushabe the Busongora County North MP who also doubles as the FDC Deputy President- Western Region, Hon. Atikins Katushabe the Bukonzo West MP and Hon. Harold Tonny Muhindo the Bukonzo East MP, among others.
The Taskforce first held a meeting with Kasese district Members of Parliament and local government leaders at the LCV Chairman’s Office to ascertain the help extended to the district and gaps still existing before they handed over the consignment of relief items that included; 300 blankets, assortment of clothes, tupoline, shoes, bed shits, Maize flour amongothers.
Hon. Mugume Kaginda, the National Taskforce Chairperson handed over 20 million shillings cash donated by the Party to the FDC Kasese District branch Chairman Mzee Saulo Matte who later handed it over to the District LCV Chairman Hon. Sibendire Bigogo.
The Taskforce has collected relief support from Party members, People’s Government, Leader of Oppositions office and the people of good will to help the people of Kasese who were affected by the floods as a result of five (5) major Rivers that burst their banks claiming over 8 lives, with over 300 people still stuck in several hospitals, properties worth billions of shillings lost, and people displaced in over 35 camps across the District.

The relief consignment follows the Leader of opposition Rt. Hon. Betty Aol Ochan’s visit last month to the District as she inspected the areas and assessed the impact caused by the calamity.
While delivering the relief support to Kasese leaders, Hon Kaginda assured the local leaders that the Party condole and sympathise with the people of Kasese with the calamity that befell them and assured them that the Party will continue collecting more items to cushion the people who were devastated with floods.
Kasese MPs led Hon. Winnie Kiiza thanked the FDC Party and People’s Government for the support.
