KAMPALA — Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has lauded Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) leadership for giving Brig. Gen Bell Tushabe who passed on this week a befitting send off.
Attending the funeral service of Brigadier Bell in Ggaba on Thursday
morning, Bobi Wine said the General was not shy to speak out when his bosses veered off course.
“Soldiers in many countries are given too much respect by all citizens. They do not line up for services in public places and you will often see people standing up and giving them seats. That is what our national army should be- only if they become a true national army in word and action,” he said.
Gen Bell one of the National Resistance Army (now Uganda People’s Defence Forces – UPDF) daredevil fighters died this week from Nakasero Hospital.
Gen. Tushabe was a staunch supporter of Express Football Club and he held several positions in the club. He was also the patron of Victor Football Club.
He was an elder brother to city lawyer Benjamin Katana who heads the legal team of the People Power Movement.
Meanwhile, Two Generals including Maj Gen. Erick Mukasa, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces Chief of Staff Reserve Forces and Brig Gen. Victor Maregano Twesigye, Uganda’s Defence liaison officer to the EAC headquarters in Arusha Tanzania have died.
