KAMPALA – Police have arrested veteran talk show host Basajja Mivule over yet to be known reasons.
The plain clothed security personnel picked Mivule from Baba TV offices in Kampala where he was hosting a morning show called Fumintiriza.
Before his arrest, Basajja Mivule, a strong government critic, posted a video on his Facebook page, hinting that he had been summoned by security agencies but insisting that he was not frightened and would continue criticising the excesses of the government.
His arrest comes days after police arrested four comedians who call themselves Bizonto (the deranged) for allegedly inciting tribalism.
However, the comedians say they intended to teach children, now stuck at home because schools are shut down, about the people who occupy strategic positions in the country.
They listed President Museveni, Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi, and Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the senior presidential advisor on special operations.
