
NAPAK – Police in Napak district have arrested and detained their own over inciting the public to attack Kangole police station in Napak district.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mr. Anthony Kiiza who’s currently being kept in Mt. Moroto regional police headquarters was arrested on Monday pending charges of insubordination, inciting violence, defying presidential directive on COVID-19, conniving to defeat justice at the expense of the state and altering harmful propaganda.
This website has also learnt that the arrest of the district Crime Intelligence Officer (CID) has left several officers jubilating.
Kiiza is allegedly mobilized the public to block police and army from taking 25 suspects which the police in the district arrested for staging a disco in Matany town board where Mr. Kiiza was also a participant against the presidential directive on covid 19 preventive measures.
Kiiza is allegedly charged with the district police commander Mr. Michael Ongica and the UPDF battalion Commander for Napak Major Richard Odong who was helping police to transport the suspects to Court in Moroto.
He demanded that police and the army had no right to take the suspects to court since they were enjoying their rights.
However, Ongica when contacted said the officer acted unprofessionally.
“I don’t know what went wrong with our officer, he was armed and told the public to attack the police station that the police has no powers to arrest the suspects claiming they were enjoying their rights in the disco which was wrong,” he said.
