KAMPALA – Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has implemented maintenance works in Kitubulu on Entebbe-Kampala highway after threats of raising Lake Victoria water levels and floods.
UNRA earlier made a pronouncement that through their contractor CCCC would cut off traffic from Baita traffic lights and motorists re-join the highway through Katabi traffic lights approximately three kilometers
The works among others will include installation of gabion cages to breath the floods, access by Katabi town council was granted to use the alternative route and expansion works started
The maintenance works come at a time when receding water levels have been reported on Lake Victoria.
The spot or stretch upon which UNRA is undertaking maintenance is where the president had an on seen eye after raising water levels on Lake Victoria had made headlines
Efforts to re-seek a UNRA comment on whether its consideration to cut off traffic from Baita fell futile as all personals in the capacity to comment never responded to calls
If nothing is reverted, traffic may be interrupted soon if UNRA maintains its original statement
Entebbe expressway which is two years old has of late registered destruction signs on metal crash (in the middle of the road) mudslides on nambingirwa bridge blocking half traffic and raising water threats with floods in kitubulu.
