KAMPALA – Most of the time, when President Museveni visits an area or a function, he pledges some kind of support to help the hosts in one way or another.
Well, last year legendary actor Sam Bagenda popularly known as Dr Bbosa made his way to the president’s pledge list on an event where he was celebrating 33years in the acting profession when the president promised him 100million shillings.
Bbosa believes the president’s pledge still stands but was hampered by the pandemic Covid-19 that changed life globally and forced many people to get back on the drawing board and re-arraign their priorities.
“I thank the president for the pledge. Unfortunately I think everything was in the process and then Covid-19 came about which changed priorities. I however have hope that may be when the situation normalises God will help and the pledge will be fulfilled since it was a promise. Right now I know his concentration is on fighting covid 19,”Bbosa explained
Bbosa also noted that he would be unreasonable and selfish if he started demanding for the pledge in such a situation.
“If he changes and decides to give me cows, why not, because he was giving me a gift for my 33 years in the drama trade. He has the right of giving me whatever he wants since it’s a token of appreciation, I am ready to accept anything because it was just a gesture,” he explained.
The President made the pledge on 5th December last year, while addressing a gathering of drama and entertainment fans at La Bonita Theatre in Kampala when popular artiste Dr. Bbosa (Mr. Sam Bagenda) of Ebonies drama group celebrated his legacy on stage and television for the last 33 years.
Bbosa commented on the pledge while launching the online streaming platform for their drama group (The Ebonies) where fans will be able to watch all ebonies plays and content from 1977 up to date.
