KAMPALA — Four-time presidential candidate Dr Kiiza Besigye has praised Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who recently joined Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), describing him as someone who can make a good president of this country.
Appearing on NTV’s Hostseat, Dr. Besigye who said he is not about to leave the struggle until its over, said Lukwago has consistently fought for a common person, one of the attributes that gives him an upper hand in the FDC.
“Erias Lukwago has consistently fought for a common person. I can tell you without any fear of contradiction that Erias Lukwago can make a good president of this country. I would vote for him. Even if FDC chose him as a candidate, he would not be found wanting,” Dr. Besigye said.
He said Lukwago has been in Kampala fighting for people being thrown out of markets and chased off the streets and that FDC likes those attributes in the leadership the party.
“What I like from Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is the constituency and clarity in his political pursuits. He is clear on what the struggle is and he commits unwaveringly to it,” he said.
Asked whether he will be on the ballot paper, Dr Besigye kept downplaying the question but said: “I am in the fight, I will not leave the fight until the fight is over Or until I am over”.

Dr. Besigye also claimed that the government in power wants to create a situation that there is a democracy in the country when actually it is not.
He castigated his former boss, President Museveni accusing him of running Uganda like family family and “that is why he calls us bazzukulu.”
“I am not your muzzukulu. Your job is to serve me. You are my servant,” he said urging Uganda to establish own roadmap to freedom.
“Let us liberate our money which they are now abusing so that we can use it to save our people, he noted adding that ” we do not need an election in order to get freedom”.
He said strategy must be to prepare ourselves to fight for Uganda with or without an election because nobody has ever become free for free.
