
KAMPALA – Kampala International University (KIU) will on Saturday, August 22, 2020, host its 22nd graduation ceremony at 2.30pm East African Standard Time via zoom, the University Facebook page and website, and on YouTube, upon commencement of the convocation by the Chancellor.
The event will also be streamed on selected TV and radio stations and therefore, no graduands and family members are expected at campus since details of the appropriate connection links will be made available on the University website (www.kiu.ac.ug) 7 days before the graduation date.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, the KIU 22nd graduation ceremony earlier scheduled for June 2020, was postponed for purposes of preventing the spread of the pandemic, and in compliance with the standard operating procedures of the Ministry of Health.
As a resolution, the KIU University Senate and University Council decided that the graduation be held virtually (online).
According to an announcement published by the Director, Academic Affairs on behalf of the KIU Senate, all graduands, parents and other stakeholders should take note of and comply with the the listed arrangements for purposes of ensuring a smooth and successful graduation ceremony.
” All potential graduands should ensure that they fulfill ALL requirements before they can be allowed to graduate and receive their academic documents. An online graduation clearance form is available onthe University website: http://clearance.kiu.ac.ug,” stated one of the general clearance guidelines in the announcement.
Graduands have until August 15, 2020 to clear and pay up all outstanding University dues and graduation fees.
The third guideline in the announcement also read, ” a list of potential graduands will be posted for viewing on the University Website, to allow handling of any inquiries prior to the deadline of graduation clearance (August 15, 2020).”
A soft copy of the graduation booklet will also be made available on the University Website and graduands whose awards require oath taking, will be provided with the oath that is to be taken online.
“Each oath taking graduand will be required to submit a signed copy of the oath before the date of graduation. Graduands in this category, are urgently required to contact their respective Deans for further details on the modalities that must be fulfilled before August 15, 2020,” read the announcement.
After the graduation ceremony, the collection of academic documents will be scheduled by the Directorate of Academic Affairs in a manner that complies with the standard operating procedures of the University and the Ministry of Health to prevent the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
With all the above directives, the Vice Chancellor, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Chancellor, University Council, Senate, Management, staff, students and all stakeholders of KIU, would like to congratulate all those who will be graduating and their guardians/parents/sponsors, and wish them all the best and success in their future career paths and endeavours.
