
KAMPALA – The senior manager for mobilization and recruitment at the NRM Secretariat, Mr Lawrence Mayambala, will soon face court after the Director of Public Prosecutions sanctioned charges of embezzlement of Shs115m worth of party cash against him.
The money in question was for distributing to NRM flag bearers during the elections of special interest groups in Buganda region.
Judge Frances Jane Abodo has approved two counts of embezzlement and conspiracy to commit a felony against Mr Mayambala and he will appear in court soon.
“Mayambala Lawrence and others still at large on or about the 16th August 2020 at National Resistance Movement Secretariat Plot 17 Kyadondo Road in Kampala, being the senior Manager of Mobilization and Recruitment, stole Shs115,817,000 the property of the National Resistance Movement, to which he had by virtue of his office,” read in part the charges against Mr Mayambala, which Judge Abodo consented to on September 8.
The matter was a result of a police investigation sanctioned by NRM Secretary General after some party members complained that they had not received the money yet it had been released by the headquarters.
