
TOORO – On behalf of the Ministry of Health, Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kingdom of Tooro to enhance disease prevention and health promotion.
This is part of the Ministry’s move to engage cultural and religious institutions to promote good health practices.
“If we harness this goodwill with the kingdom, we can significantly reduce the disease burden in the Tooro region. “We can see Tooro not just the hub for tourism, but the hub for good health,” she said.
King Oyo has set up a youth center in the region aimed to empower youth which he says will go a long way in improving health outcomes among the youth and people of Tooro.
“It will among others, ensure people to test and treat to know their health status,” he said.
“I want to appreciate you for the gesture, for the partnership and the youth center,” said Atwine.
she further commended King Oyo for his initiative to set up a school of public health in the region aimed at training and empowering communities to take responsibility for their health.
The team also lauded the King for ensuring that the people of Tooro adhere to SOPs to prevent COVID-19.
