KAMPALA — President Museveni commissioned the refurbished Uganda Martyrs Cathedral of Lira Diocese.
The President also congratulated the Christians of the diocese on this milestone, achieved as they mark their Golden Jubilee.
“We must thank God that 50 years later, Uganda is now peaceful with freedom of worship as one of the liberties enjoyed minus restriction. I also applaud the Christians for leading the push to renovate the church, with us, the outsiders, only lending a hand”.
Archbishop John Baptist Odama is leading a critical push among the people to create wealth through cassava growing for commercial purposes.
The President also thanked him and all the other clergy involved in these wealth creation drives.
He said this is a true reflection of walking in Jesus footsteps.
To support these efforts, the president said he will give the church six tractors.
“I will also contribute UGX300 million towards construction of the bishop’s house. To the priests, I will donate 5,600 iron sheets while the women’s guild will get a vehicle”.
