
KITGUM — National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer, Robert Kyagulanyi is expected to start his second day Presidential campaigns in Kitgum, Pader and Gulu, on Wednesday.
Security has been heightened in the the three districts with the presence of both the military and the police on the streets.
Meanwhile, thousands of his supporters stood by the roadsides to catch a glimpse of the candidate as his convoy traversed the West Nile Region for elections.
Kyagulanyi, a musician turned top critic of President Museveni’s 36-year rule delivered a rousing campaign speeches on Monday in Pakwach, Nebbi and Arua promised to cater for the elderly, revive the rigions rail line, address massive land grabbing, education, roads and others.
He held a historic campaign in Arua, a city where two years ago he survived the shooting by security forces in an election fracas that claimed life of his friend driver, Yasin Kawuma.
Government later charged him with treason on claims that he wanted to assassinate President Museveni who was also in Arua campaigning for a parliamentary candidate of his party–NRM.
