MAYUGE — The National Unity Platform (NUP) Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has promised to deliver quality social services, when the party wins next year’s polls.
Bobi Wine who addressed huge gatherings in Mayuge, Iganga and Bugiri said he knows the problems of Busoga sub region and solve them to restore the region’s pride when elected in 2021.
“Many Ugandans recall the free good health services, university education, cooperatives, industries and other services. But that is no more because of the Museveni regime,” Bobi Wine said.
Bobi Wine said most public services are currently sub-standard with the Government turning a deaf ear despite persistent pleas from concerned citizens.
“I know the Problems of Busoga are many. When I was growing up Busoga was the biggest industrial town in East Africa but ever since Museveni took over power he turned the people of Busoga slaves,” said Bobi Wine.
He also promised the local sugarcane growers that when he becomes president they will have a say on the price of their sugarcane.
Despite Busoga’s continuous support for incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, the region, which is wallowing in poverty, has lagged behind the rest of the country, with the exception of Karamoja.
Bobi Wine said the poverty in Busoga is political.
“I promise you when I become President Busoga will be for the Basoga. Busoga had the best schools in the country and my dream was to study from Namasagali College. They killed Namasagali College because Museveni has no talent,” said Bobi Wine
Bobi also said that the children of Busoga were sabotaged from studying and now they either grow sugarcanes or turn into fishermen at the lake which he claims was sold.
“I hear the lake was sold. When I become president I will return lake to you,” said Bobi Wine.
