
KAMPALA —The State Minister for Labour Mwesigwa Rukutana is now facing additional charges of robbery after the Director of Public Prosecutions amended the charge sheet in which he is charged with threatening violence.
The DDP has now added the charge of armed robbery and causing grievous harm and Mr Rukutana (61) who was expected to appear for mention of his case after he was given bail by Chief Magistrates Court made no show.
According to the charge sheet, Mr Rukutana robbed a smart phone and a laptop belonging to Moses Muhumuza, the owner of a car that was damaged during the National Resistance Movement primaries in Rushenyi Constituency, Ntugamo on September 5.

“Mwesigwa Rututana and others still at large on the 5th of September 2020 at Kigugu Parish in Ntungamo District robbed Rweiburingi Dan of his Mobile Phone Tecno by make and at or immediately before or after the said robbery, threatened to use deadly weapons to wit a gun on the said Rweiburingi Dan,” the prosecution alleges.
He also accused of stealing a Dello Laptop from Muhumuza and causing grievous harm to Juma Kahitana.
The case has been adjusted till January.
