KAMPALA — Electoral Commission (EC) has rejected Presidential aspirantJohn Katumba over incomplete papers.
He was subsequently shown the exit at the Kyambogo nominations grounds for failure to meet the nominations standards and his nomination has been deferred after failing to produce proof of payment of the UGX 20 million.
“Because you have no proof of payment of the UGX 20m fee, we can’t proceed to have you nominated,”Justice Simon Byabakama told Presidential aspirant John Katumba.
Speaking to journalists, Katumba blasted the EC chairman and accused him of double standards over refusing to reply his letters.
“I haven’t yet paid the UGX. 20m in the bank yet because when I tried, I was asked for an employment letter which I don’t have since I am not employed but I have the money with me,” he told reporters outside the nomination venue.
Katumba whose agenda he said is to liberate Uganda psychologically, socially, economically and politically harried carried the UGX.20 non refundable fee in cash but the EC rejected it and ordered him to deposit it on its account.
He said he would continue to engage the EC boss before the nomination period expires.

Katumba had suffered a setback on his way to the nomination ground after his car suffered a puncture.
Katumba then left the car behind and run on foot to the nomination centre.
