KISORO – The presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, said he will forgive the former Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura and work with him to develop the country.
Gen Kayihura is facing several criminal charges in the Military Court after his arrest in 2018.
Addressing voters in Kisoro District, which is Kayihura’s home area on Wednesday, 16 December 2020, Bobi Wine said in 2017, he warned Gen Kayihura that Museveni was using him and would dump him.
“I used to tell my brother and friend Gen Kale Kayihura that Museveni is not a good man but he didn’t listen to me. As you all know, whenever Gen Kayihura wanted to preach the message against marijuana smoking in the ghetto, he could send me,” Bobi Wine said.
Before Gen Kayihura was sacked as IGP in April 2018, he blocked Bobi Wine’s music concert. Bobi Wine yesterday attacked Museveni for demoting and arresting Kayihura. He asked people of Kisoro to demand Kayihura’s freedom.

“He was sacked together with Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde (former security minister) but the latter was exonerated and he is running for president but the former is still in prison. He cannot even come to his home area. If I am lying, I dare Mr Museveni to come and campaign with Gen Kayihura here in Kisoro,” he said.
Bobi Wine also pledged to establish Kale Memorial University and Kisoro Airport in commemoration of John Kalekezi, father of Gen Kayihura. The same pledges have been made by Museveni in the past.
“When vote for me as your president, I will not come here to open a police post, I will come to build the university and airport that Museveni has been lying to you about all this while,” Mr Kyagulanyi said.
