
KAMPALA – The retired Archbishop James Odongo of Tororo has passed on, Uganda Episcopal Conference has confirmed.
“The Lord has visited us again this morning with the sad news.
His Grace James Odongo, the Archbishop Emeritus of Tororo has passed on this morning of Friday 4th Dec 2020 at Nsambya Hospital. More details to follow. Rest in eternal peace Your Grace,” announced the Episcopal on Friday morning through their official Facebook page.
“I regret to inform you that His Grace Archbishop Odongo has this morning passed away from Nsambya Hospital. May his soul rest in peace,” another source told PML Daily on phone.
Archbishop Odongo, 88 who was ordained an Auxiliary bishop on February 16, 1965, was living in Mbale, where he has been staying upon retirement in 2007.
Pope Benedict XVI accepted his resignation from the pastoral care of Tororo Archdiocese on June 27, 2007, on account of the age limit.
