NAMISINDWA– Presidential candidate Lt General Henry Tumukunde has responded to incumbent President Yoweri Museveni’s statements made against him and others.
Museveni while in Rukungiri said that he is not ready to hand over power to former presidential aspirant Colonel, Dr. Kiiza Besigye nor to Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential flag bearer Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu and independent Tumukunde because “they are useless.”
Tumukunde who seemed very unhappy with the president’s remarks dismissed claims that he failed to serve the country despite having the opportunity to do so.
“The other day he had so many complications in solving terrorism in Kampala, I came in,I solved that problem and he calls me useless?” He said.
“Secondly, President Museveni gives an impression that we are like hired slaves supposed to serve under him forever, permanently and pentionaly,” he added.
According to Tumukunde, the claims were very unfortunate and not made in good spirit because the president aimed at belittling them for diifering from him in thinking.
“He was saying that me and Muntu and Besigye and particularly me an told he was calling me useless. Imagine, first of all if it was for Obote, having to quite power to Museveni I don’t think he would have done that. So it is not true that leaders decide who comes next to them,” said Tumukunde.
He further claimed that President Museveni is too prefectual and patronising on other Ugandans.
“Even the words he used towards fellow leaders I think for him he imagines we are just like . I don’t know who else qualifies to be called useless,” he ranted.
