MBALE –Shock and grief engulfed residents of Bubalinga village in Sironko district after a former Budadiri West parliamentary candidate, Amani Magombe, was found hanging on an avocado tree; and neighbours believe he had committed suicide.
The deceased body was discovered hanging on an avocado tree in his compound in Bubalingaga B cell, Bubalingaga ward, Buteza town council in Sironko district on Tuesday evening.
Sulai Majeme a resident of the area said Magombe had not been seen the entire day; and were shocked to find the deceased’s lifeless body hanging on the tree.
Francis Wandeka, the Bubalingaga village LCI chairperson, who confirmed the incident added despite being a resident of the area, the deceased has been running a business in Busia district.
Wandeka revealed that the deceased only returned home from Busia on Monday and they are yet to establish what could have prompted him to take his life.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, said the deceased’s body had been taken to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital for a post postmortem.
