KAMPALA – Police has said the bridegroom who disappeared a day to his wedding and reappeared two days later has no criminal case to answer.
Christabella Banturaki, the bride, opened a case at Kasangati Police Station that his husband-to-be, Patrick Mbusa Kabagambe, had gone missing in his car and his mobile phones were switched off.
However, Kabagambe, a medical doctor by profession, appeared later and reported to Wandegeya police, dismissing any allegations that he had disappeared. He explained that he had taken a rest after cancelling the wedding.
On Tuesday, Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire said they have closed the case file against Kabagambe since he reported himself to police and explained that he had not disappeared.
According to Owoyesigyire, the bride-to-be, Christabella, who had opened the case, has also not made a follow-up and has since switched off her phones.
The two, who had already conducted a traditional wedding, were set to marry at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero last Saturday. However, the groom to be was nowhere to be seen to the disappointment of the relatives and friends who had come to church and the reception at Silver Springs Hotel.
The matter has since made split opinion on social media.
